Most illness and diseases we experience are manifested by stress. But stress is a catch-all term that doesn’t really speak to the energetic/emotional imbalance we’re actually feeling. Most men have been taught that stress means “more than I can handle,” and because men are socialized to handle ALOT, stress often goes unrecognized, and the path to true healing for them often goes untraveled. One of the most healing things we can do (as men) is to rethink how we define stress.

What are you thoughts with people who have the mindset that we should do more of what we don’t like doing?? I recently had an interview for a sales position. My potential boss asked me what parts of the job would I not like. I told him that taking customers out to lunch etc to entertain is not appealing to me. He said, “Then that is what you need to do more of.” I do understand using the opportunity to grow in this area of communication with others and building relationships.
If what you’re doing feels draining to you, or feels like it suppresses or limits your soul, IT IS NOT BENIGN. Even if it’s making you more money, it is also causing starvation of the spirit, and stress in the body (which ultimately leads to chronic illness or disease). There is a huge difference between doing something outside of your comfort zone, and doing something that drains you. Learning the difference between those two is crucial to your well-being.
